ABOUT Ana Paula Velazquez Castro
Ana Paula Velazquez Castro is a bilingual (Spanish) mental health counselor who provides in-person and virtual therapy sessions. She takes a culturally informed, trauma-aware, and compassionate approach, creating a space where clients can show up honestly and feel truly seen without judgment. Ana Paula understands that our identities, relationships, and life experiences shape how we move through the world.
Her approach is integrative, drawing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. She supports clients in building practical tools to manage anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm, while also exploring the deeper patterns shaped by past experiences and relationships. Through this process, clients are able to develop greater self-awareness, shift unhelpful patterns, and begin to move through life with more clarity and intention.
Ana Paula is especially passionate about working with individuals navigating identity, cultural dynamics, relationship challenges, and life transitions. As a Latina therapist with an understanding of immigrant and multicultural experiences, she is attuned to how culture and family systems can influence mental health. Her goal is to help clients reconnect with themselves, clarify what truly matters to them, and build lives that feel aligned with their values and sense of fulfillment.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, where she completed the bilingual Latina/o mental health concentration.
